Here are some ideas to help us raise funds and awareness while you gain community service hours!
Ideas:
- Coin Collection Jar - make a coin collection jar. Learn about GAF programs and then ask one of your local markets or stores if you can place the collection jar there for a period of time and donate the funds collected.
- Yard Work - Offer Yard Clean Ups or Lawn Mowing to neighbors and donate the money to GAF
- Ebay Sales - Sell an Item you no longer need on your own ebay account and donate a percentage of the sale to the Guatemala Aid Fund Ebay Charity (easy to select us as your charity directly from your ebay account)
- A Presentation of your Own- Hone up, or learn new powerpoint, utube or other presentation skills while promoting the work of the Guatemala Aid Fund. You could work this in to an English, geography or history class project. Learn about Guatemala, and the rampant poverty and malnutrition, and create your own presentation in the media of your choice and describe why you have chosen Guatemala Aid Fund for your own personal fundraiser. Share your presentation / fundraiser with family or friends.
- Recycled Shoe Drive - (this is a lot of work so discuss with your parent first) There are many sites. Here is one: https://funds2orgs.com/ This would be done in your own state, and you would coordinate directly. We love these projects because they not only help kids in Guatemala, they recycle shoes, and create jobs and supply shoes in other places.
- Used Sports Equipment Sale - Collect used sports equipment and sell it on an online sale and donate the funds to GAF.
- Crafty? - Create a craft of your very own and sell and donate the profits.
- Like cooking or baking? Back or cook your best recipe and sell to friends and neighbors and donate the funds.
- Virtual Yard Sale - We love fundraisers that result in recycling of items, or sharing some treasure that you no longer need. Maybe you have two of the same Marvel Comics and only need one? Or your old Ipod that someone may want? Collect items and take photos and just share with your friends and donate the money collected to GAF.
- Gift Cards - Make Gift Cards or Sell our Guatemalan Photo Gift Cards to friends and family. Check on our ETSY SITE to see some of the cards we have.
- Get Started and Log Your Hours! We will send you your Community Service Certificate!
Bake sales, walk-a-thons, lawn mowing, lemonade stands, collection and resale of sports equipment, coin collection cans, and 'in lieu of' birthday gifts. These are just some of the ways kids - young children and teens alike - are helping others, and no amount is too small! Those bags of coins add up! All participants receive a certificate of community service and the pride in knowing they are Caring Kids!
