The fiesta in September was a success
A big thank you to everyone who came, laughed, played, ate and donated. We could not have done it without you. It was great seeing you!

Hogar San Francisco Xavier, Mixco, Guatemala
The Hogar is about 20 minutes outside of Guatemala City. Doesn't seem very far but for parents who want to visit their children it is very difficult and expensive. Many of the children at the Hogar have parents, but they simply cannot take care of them. Below you can see some pictures from our last visit.
As you can see, the clothing is organized in cubicles, and numbered as they will be handed down when they grow out of them. All clothes are donated. Clothes they cannot use (girls clothes for ex.) are sold a few times per year to generate some income for other necessities. Volunteers help with homework, and all income come from donations.

Meet some of the boys at the Hogar. They are so excited to have visitors.

Guatemala packing party June 2008
Kathy visited Guatemala in early 2008 to welcome little Nico to her family. While there, she visited Hogar San Francisco Xavier. When speaking to Hermano Fabio, she realised there was a real need for items such as back packs (for kids who go to school there and has nothing to carry their books in), rain ponchos, pens, note books, tooth brushes, tooth paste, underwear and more.
With Kathy's enthusiasm and determination, we managed to collect hundreds of backpacks (thank you to EF Education and everyone else who donated), rain ponchos, books and much, much more.
In June 2008, we met and packed it all up and shipped it to the Hogar.
